Render Only What You Actually Need to See

Region of Interest can cut your preview time down dramatically.

When you’re working on a small section of a Fusion composition, there’s no reason to make Resolve calculate the entire frame every time you scrub or preview your animation.

But by default, that’s exactly what happens.

If you’re only adjusting something in one corner of the image, you can use Region of Interest, or RoI, to tell Fusion which part of the frame actually needs to be processed.

Look at the top of your Viewer panel and find the Region of Interest icon in the viewer toolbar. Click it once to enable RoI.

A rectangular box will appear over your image.

Now drag any of the edges or corners of the rectangle to resize it. Shrink the box down until it covers only the section you’re currently working on.

Fusion will then focus its processing on that selected area instead of calculating the entire frame.

Everything outside the Region of Interest is skipped during the preview, which can significantly reduce the amount of work Fusion has to do.

This becomes especially useful with demanding compositions containing 3D elements, particles, effects, blurs, or complex node trees. If you’re making changes to just one small area, processing the whole frame can waste a lot of time.

Once you need to see the entire composition again, simply click the Region of Interest icon to turn it off.

So instead of waiting for Fusion to render pixels you don’t even need to see, give it a smaller area to calculate.
